This involves completing units of competence (safety/emergency response/teamwork/technical/operational) that assess your performance and knowledge. The units of competence are mapped to IMCA guidelines and assessed in accordance with national codes of practice for vocational qualifications. If you do one or two assessments every trip you go on, it will take you 12–18 months to gather sufficient evidence.
You may access and download the full range of MTCS Competencies for your role and start to work towards your Grade Assessment (GA).
If you are new to MTCS Online you will be required to set up an account prior to downloading any documentation. Please note there is no cost to set up an account on MTCS online, or any obligation for you to proceed with a verification.
Prior to purchasing your GA, the steps are as follows:
- Register and create an MTCS Online account, there is no cost to register, and no commitment is required.
- From your MTCS Online account, you will then have access to all the Grade Assessment (GA) documentation and templates so you can begin to work through the competencies. There is also an example of a typical Grade Assessment (GA) showing how it is laid out, including the areas where you will upload your evidence.
- Within your Online Account, there is a ‘Private Files Area‘ that you can continually access and where you can start saving your evidence, prior to purchasing the GA.
